We invite you to reserve your seat aboard the ocean liner SS American as it sails from New York to England for a week of music, comedy and dance.
Our latest offering, this time from the pen of the genius, Cole Porter, is a glorious musical, directed by Jonathan Cash with choreography provided by his wife Helen and musical direction by Deborah Barry.
It is full of great tunes including I Get a Kick Out of You, You're the Top, It's De-Lovely, Blow Gabriel Blow, Friendship and the memorable title number, Anything Goes.
The main action takes place below decks on the "SS American" in the 1930's. An unusual group of passengers are assembled on-board including a gangster Moonface Martin (Brian Barry), a wealthy debutante and her mother Hope and Evangeline Harcourt (Emma McEnamey and Lynne Henderson); a nightclub singer Reno Sweeny (Katie Howes), wealthy New York businessman Elisha Witney (David Wilkinson) and his stowaway assistant Billy Crocker (Ian Byrne).
It turns out that Hope is Billy's lost love. Unfortunately she is now engaged to a wealthy Englishman, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Andrew Fearon). After a series of comedic happenings, Billy manages to win back Hope.
Meanwhile, Billy's friend, Reno, manages to seduce and win Lord Evelyn. All this happens while Moonface Martin is attempting to escape the law
and Hope's mother strives to maintain her social status.
